Julian Lewis, a dynamic five-star quarterback from Carrollton, Georgia, shared a picture of his arrival in Colorado on his Instagram story on Friday. He posted a photo of the Denver International Airport with the caption:
“Almost Home.”
Lewis' timing couldn’t be more perfect, arriving just before the team’s appearance in the Alamo Bowl. Ranked as the No. 2 overall player and quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class (per ESPN), Lewis pledged his future to Colorado in December, emphasizing his excitement about playing for Coach Sanders.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to get to work and compete. Colorado wasn't recruiting me until I reclassed, so it really was perfect timing. This is only the beginning. I trust Coach Prime and [offensive coordinator Pat] Shurmur to help me become the player that I want to be."
Lewis’s high school career was nothing short of remarkable. As a freshman, he threw for 4,118 yards and 48 touchdowns with 12 interceptions, leading Carrollton to a 14-1 record before falling in the 7A state championship.
Julian Lewis' sophomore year saw even greater efficiency, with 3,094 passing yards, 48 touchdowns, and only two interceptions, guiding the team to an 11-2 finish and a quarterfinal appearance.
After reclassifying, Lewis concluded his prep career with 3,465 passing yards, 46 touchdowns and five interceptions, adding two rushing scores. Despite Carrollton’s strong 14-1 run, they narrowly lost the 6A state title to Grayson.
Julian Lewis competing for QB1 as Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter joins Colorado
Colorado has added a significant piece to its quarterback room with the signing of Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter. Salter, a former Liberty star, started 29 games and was named Conference USA MVP in 2023 after leading the Flames to an impressive 13-1 record.
Over two seasons in Jamey Chadwell’s spread-option system, Salter accumulated 6,438 total yards and 66 touchdowns, demonstrating his versatility both in the air and on the ground. His 1,676 rushing yards since 2023 rank second among FBS quarterbacks, trailing only Army’s Bryson Daily.
With Colorado’s highly touted signee Julian Lewis still developing, Salter is expected to take the reins for a season. Buffs insider Jake Schwanitz underscored the importance of adding an experienced quarterback:
"Julian is very talented, but make no mistake about it. The Buffs had to just upgrade the overall talent in their quarterback room going into this next season."
He emphasized the value of creating competition and having a seasoned option to stabilize the offense.
"This next year, you don't want to just go in hoping, putting all your chips on Juju, 17 years old, he is kind of a phenom, but that's a very risky spot to be in. So now you kind of just level it out. You have some experience to fall back on. And now you have a quarterback competition."
Standing 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Julian Lewis remains the second-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class, just behind LSU commit Bryce Underwood.
