Five-star prospect AJ Dybantsa continues to prove why he is the No. 1-ranked high school player in the country as he consistently delivers outstanding performances. Against Albuquerque Prep on Saturday at the Hawaii Grind Session, the Utah Prep star recorded 32 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists to lead Utah Prep to a 117-77 victory.
Bleacher Report shared highlights of his performance on Instagram and it generated excitement and plenty of reactions from hoops fans. Some compared Dybantsa to different NBA stars.
"Am I wild for thinking he's better than Cooper Flagg?" one fan said.
"This dude would have cooked LeBron in high school..😂😂," another fan said.
"KG/TMac in one," one fan commented.
"Bro shows a lot of T MAC traits. He is still developing but showing promising signs of a great NBA player," a fan wrote.
"Game reminds me of RJ Barret," another fan wrote.
Some campaigned for him to join their favorite NBA teams in the future.
"Welcome to the Phoenix Suns," one fan said.
"The Utah Jazz are going to buy the #1 draft pick to get him in 2026. Calling it now.." another fan said.
"He's ready for the NBA now!" one fan commented.
"Bro wants to go to San Antonio🔥🔥," a fan wrote.
While a lot of fans praised Dybantsa, some said that the level of competition he has faced is low, especially since he's based in Utah.
"The kid plays ball in Utah 🤮🤢 it's no good competition in Utah. Just look at the other hoopers on his team. Not one good tournament is held in Utah 😂😂😂," one fan wrote.
"He needs to stop playing Dem kids already," another fan said.
"Why are they not playing in the big tournaments with the really good teams?" one fan commented.
Utah Prep is having an outstanding season, and a big part of its success is tied to Dybantsa's exceptional performances. Fans are looking forward to seeing him bring this same level of brilliance to college basketball and eventually, the NBA.
AJ Dybantsa Already Considered First Pick In The Next NBA Draft
While still a high school player and with college basketball left to play, AJ Dybantsa is already in NBA conversations. The 6-foot-9 forward signed with BYU on Dec. 10, and he said that the NBA experience of its coaching staff is one of the major factors that influenced his decision.
"They've got NBA staff all the way down to the dietician and strength coach and my ultimate goal is to go to the NBA so why not surround myself a year earlier," Dybantsa said, via ESPN.
Top sports analysts and sites like ESPN are projecting him to be the first pick in the 2026 NBA draft. While fans are excited to see him wear a Cougars jersey, others can't wait to see him ply his trade in the NBA.
