Texas Longhorns coach Rodney Terry has a busy weekend ahead with four-star recruit Shelton Henderson visiting. They will host the five-star and No. 4 overall recruit, Nate Ament.
Shelton Henderson is rated four stars by On3 and ESPN and five stars by Rivals and 247Sports. The 6'5" forward boasts an 88 Scout Grade (according to ESPN) and ranks at the 30th spot in the 2025 ESPN 100 Recruiting Database.
Shelton Henderson ranks at the first spot in Texas, fifth spot in the small forward position and 16th nationally.
On the other hand, On3, ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports all rated Nate Ament five stars as the fourth-best overall prospect. According to ESPN, he also has a 95 Scout Grade.
In six games with Team USA in the 2024 FIBA Men's U18 AmeriCup, Ament averaged 3.7 points, 0.5 assists, one steal, and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 55.6% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc. Henderson averaged 8.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists during the same event, helping Team USA win gold.
Nate Ament received plenty of interest from different colleges, including Virginia Tech, Duke, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, and many more. However, his final list included Bryant, Creighton, Duke, Florida State, George Mason, Illinois and UConn.
How good is Shelton Henderson?
The four-star recruit has played 36 games in the 2023-24 season. In 6.3 minutes per game, Henderson averaged 21.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest.
Shelton Henderson was also a popular choice among plenty of colleges such as Rutgers, UCF, Kansas, Texas Tech, Louisville, DePaul, LSU, and more, but the colleges that made his cut were Texas Tech, Texas, LSU, Louisville, Houston and Duke.
Before he visited Texas, Henderson also visited the Louisville Cardinals on Aug. 23 (offer sent on Apr. 23, 2024), the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Sep. 13 (offer sent on Aug. 8, 2023) and the Duke Blue Devils on Sep. 27 (offer sent on Jun. 11, 2024).
Under Rodney Terry, the Longhorns made it to the NCAA Division I Round of 32 last season. With the new season, they have recruited five-star Tre Johnson, four-star Nicolas Codie and three-star Jamie Vinson. How far do you think Texas will go in next season's NCAA tournament?
