Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis has emerged as the crown jewel of USC’s 2025 recruiting class. However, despite his commitment to the Trojans, he has continued to keep Indiana warm.

On Thursday, On3 national recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong hinted that Lewis might be a recruiting guest at Indiana's game against Nebraska. However, Rivals' Adam Gorney later reported that the QB did not make the trip to Bloomington.

The game was historic for the Hoosiers, as they celebrated their first sellout at Memorial Stadium since 2021. They dominated the Cornhuskers with a 28-7 lead at halftime and ultimately won 56-7.

This victory marked Indiana's best start to a season since 1967, improving its record to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Big Ten play. Indiana outgained its opponents significantly, recording 495 yards compared to Nebraska's 304.

The loss continued a troubling trend for Nebraska, as it dropped to 5-2 and suffered its 26th consecutive defeat against AP-ranked opponents since 2016. The Huskers now hold a 2-2 record in the Big Ten and face challenges in their quest for bowl eligibility, which they have not achieved since 2016.

Can Indiana flip Julian Lewis from USC?

In May, the stability of Julian Lewis' commitment to USC seemed questionable when he made an official visit to Indiana. His interest in Indiana has been fueled by a long-standing relationship with Hoosiers quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri.

No other college assistant has been as closely connected with the Lewis family as Sunseri, and he even went to Carrollton, Georgia to see Lewis play in his senior season.

Although Lewis has not publicly indicated any intentions of flipping his commitment, the current state of both programs may play a significant role in his decision-making process besides his connection with Sunseri. Indiana is enjoying an undefeated season, while USC is struggling with a disappointing 3-4 (1-4 Big Ten) record.

The Hoosiers’ 2025 class consists of 20 three-star commitments. If Lewis changes his commitment from USC to Indiana, it can generate the momentum the coaching staff has been seeking throughout the fall. Lewis' status as the third highest-rated Georgia QB prospect this century proves the magnitude of this potential shift.

Julian Lewis is having a strong senior season so far, leading Carrollton High School to an 8-0 start. He has completed 77% of his passes for 1,843 yards, 28 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
