With NBA sons being found all over high school basketball, many are debating who the best hooper among them is. This includes fans comparing Kiyan Anthony, son of former New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, and Alijah Arenas, son of former Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas.
Kiyan Anthony is a four-star shooting guard in the Class of 2025, ranked No. 35 in the nation by On3. Meanwhile, Alijah Arenas is a five-star shooting guard from the Class of 2026, ranked No. 4 by On3. Because of Arenas' higher ranking, many believe that he would win in a head-to-head matchup.
"Arenas would BBQ bro. Respectfully," commented one person.
"Ngl Kiyan tuff But I think Gil got Alijah training differently Imma have to go w Alijah," another commenter added.
"Idk wat kiyan looks like against NBA athletes … he certainly can play .. but I seen alijah give nba pros WORK !!!! Soo idk …," a fan pointed out.
Meanwhile, others pointed out that while Arenas might be a better player, basketball is a team game and Anthony plays for a better school.
"Kiyan is playing on a national schedule, & I'm pretty sure Alijah is only playing Socal schools," a commenter wrote.
"Won’t be a good matchup! LuHi will smoke Chatsworth by 60," another fan added.
"Both gonna be problems in the league 🔥🔥🔥," a fan said.
Alijah Arenas and Kiyan Anthony play for much different teams
While individually, Alijah Arenas seems to have the upper hand, Kiyan Anthony has had more team success. Arenas is the only player of note on his team and usually goes against unranked schools. Anthony is on a team with other four-star prospects and regularly takes on some of the country's best teams.
Alijah Arenas' Chatsworth in California is off to a 4-0 start, but as fans have pointed out, the school mostly plays against Southern California teams and does not get to play ranked schools often.
As for Kiyan Anthony's Long Island Lutheran in Glen Head, New York, the team has one of the toughest schedules in its quest for a national championship. It is ranked No. 1 in New York and is off to a 1-0 start, with games scheduled against ranked powerhouses like Linked Academy, Montverde, Columbus and IMG Academy.
