Arkansas Razorbacks head coach John Capilari reportedly paid a visit to five-star prospect Nate Ament. The 6-foot-9 Highland School forward, who is currently ESPN's No. 4 ranked player in the 2025 class, is yet to announce commitment to any college programs.
As per reports from On3, head coach John Capilari visited on Thursday to personally see Ament, who's been receiving offers from different top college programs, including Duke, Notre Dame, Tennessee and UConn.
Speaking to On3, the 18-year-old prospect gave his thoughts on the Razorbacks, saying:
"They have a great coaching staff; you know Coach Cal is a renowned coach. So I'm just trying to feel them out still and make sure I know what's going on and how I'd fit in the system."
He also gave his opinion of Head Coach Calipari, talking about his reputation and success at developing NBA talent:
"You know he's sent more players to the league than anybody and he's an NBA coach in college, so that's very enticing."
According to On3's Recruiting Prediction, Duke is ahead in the race for Nate Ament's commitment with a 23.3% chance. The Blue Devils already hosted him once, and he's hinted at a return visit for their home game against archrival North Carolina on February 1.
Ament has also visited the Tennessee Volunteers, and according to On3, they currently have a 15.4% chance of securing his commitment. Following closely with a 13.2% and 11.0% chance, respectively, are Louisville and Notre Dame, who have also already hosted Ament for visits.
With other official visits still on his schedule, including a planned stop at Arkansas, the Razorbacks can only hope that whatever head coach Capialari said to Ament during his visit will be enough to eventually make him commit.
John Calipari's Razorbacks Continues to Target Top Talents in the 2025 Recruiting Class
Under head coach Calipari's leadership, the Razorbacks have been successfully targeting the best basketball talents out of high school. So far, the team has secured a commitment from five-star 6-foot-4 shooting guard Meleek Thomas and 6-foot-2 point guard Darius Acuff, who are currently ranked 9th and tenth place, respectively, in the 2025 class.
The Razorbacks have also added four-star recruit Isaiah Sealy, along with other impressive high school prospects, including 6-foot-8 Terrion Burgess and 6-foot-3 Kellen Robinson.
Although the addition of Ament is still just a possibility, if the Razorbacks eventually succeed in securing his signature, it would solidify their 2025 class as one of the most formidable in the nation.
