Four-star quarterback Deuce Knight has been developing strong relationships with his future teammates. His bond with Auburn's players was evident when he delivered a heartwarming message of support to freshman pass rusher Jamonta Waller following his foot injury.

Waller originally committed to Florida before flipping to Auburn last year and played in just one game this season, recording a half-tackle in Auburn's Week 1 win over Alabama A&M. His injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season, making him eligible for a medical redshirt.

Knight posted:

"None to a soldier brudda🙏❤️."

Before the injury, Waller was expected to play a significant role for the Tigers this season. Auburn’s linebacker coach Josh Aldridge had high praise for Waller.

"Jamonta is an elite pass rusher," Aldridge told Montgomery Advertiser. "He’s probably the most ready from of the young guys from a pass-rush standpoint. Maybe not necessarily the run just from the strength and things like that. But being able to line up and go rush, he can go do it."

Auburn’s defensive line will continue to rely on Keldric Faulk, Isaiah Raikes and Philip Blidi to step up in Waller's absence. The Tigers face their next challenge against Missouri on Oct. 19.

Deuce Knight is poised for success at Auburn's QB room alongside Walker White

Auburn’s quarterback room is in good hands for the future, with Deuce Knight in the 2025 Class and Walker White in the 2024 class. Both players have been groomed by veteran quarterback coach David Morris, a former Ole Miss quarterback with a strong reputation for developing top talent.

White hasn’t seen the field this season, but Auburn coach Hugh Freeze remains confident in his potential. Meanwhile, Knight has yet to practice with the Tigers, but Morris praises his intelligence and exceptional communication skills.

According to Morris, both players are remarkably gifted.

"They both have big time athleticism," Morris told AL. "They’re also great passers. And I think both of them have grown in their ability to control the football in kind of short, intermediate and deep. They’re both kind of scratching the surface as kind of who they are as a quarterback."

With Auburn's current starter, Payton Thorne, entering his final year of eligibility, the race for the quarterback position will likely heat up soon. Whether White claims the starting spot next season or has to compete with Knight in 2025 remains to be seen.
