Four-star running back and Auburn commit Alvin Henderson is rewriting the Alabama High School Athletic Association record books with a jaw-dropping performance.

Henderson leads the nation with 2,189 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns this season. He became the first player in AHSAA history to surpass 1,000 career points. With 9,232 career rushing yards, he is now fourth in AHSAA history, only 613 yards away from breaking Mac Campbell’s record.

Henderson tied the record for the most rushing touchdowns in a single game on Oct. 4 and set a new mark for the most individual points in AHSAA history.

He ran for nine touchdowns and scored 60 points from three two-pointers during a memorable duel. His incredible effort lifted his team to an 80-78 win, the highest score in AHSAA history.

Henderson's hot streak continued in his latest outing on Thursday. He notched 155 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries, extending his streak of consecutive games with at least two rushing touchdowns to 22. With a 71-yard breakaway run, he once again showed his explosiveness.

Preparing for a game against Georgiana, Henderson needs only 501 yards to reach 10,000 career rushing yards.

Alvin Henderson's stellar season puts him atop the national rushing leaderboard

Alvin Henderson now dominates the national high school rushing leaderboard. After seven games, Henderson has accumulated 2,034 yards, outpacing his nearest competitor by nearly 300 yards. He averages 290.6 rushing yards per game. Henderson has scored 36 touchdowns this season, according to MaxPreps.

247Sports recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna praised Henderson’s collegiate potential in an April 2024 scouting report.

"He’s a sudden runner demonstrates the ability to play in both a power or zone scheme, the Alabama native exhibits excellent short area burst and separation quickness at the second level to create space between defenders," Petagna noted.

Petagna also highlighted Henderson’s ability to play through contact and find extra yardage:

"Plays with good play strength and physicality, plus shows the ability to consistently play through contact. Has a knack for finding hidden yardage between the tackles, utilizing patience and contact balance but also possesses the elusiveness and long speed to create explosive plays in the open field."

Henderson's recent stretch of four consecutive 300-yard performances helped him rack up 25 touchdowns in September alone. His efforts have led the Elba Tigers, a 1A team, to a 5-2 record after a stellar 13-1 season in 2023, where they reached the state semifinals.

Other top national rushing contenders include Zayden Cook of Summerville, Ga., with 1,765 yards, and Grady Kinsey from Ohio’s Gnadenhutten Indian Valley with 1,751 yards. Henderson, one of 26 Auburn commits for 2025, is ranked 15th in the Tigers’ class. Auburn’s class ranks third nationally.
