Four-star running back and Auburn signee Alvin Henderson was named the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl Player of the Year in a ceremony held on Friday. He beat five other finalists to the award: defensive lineman Amare Adams, linebacker Will Hawthorne, linebacker Noah Mikhail, and quarterbacks Antwann Hill and KaMario Taylor.

The award is one of the most prestigious annual awards available to high school football players. The Navy All-American Bowl is one of the biggest all-star events in high school football and perhaps the biggest stage a high school player can get featured on.

Several past winners of the award have gone on to become high-profile names both in college and in the NFL. They include Bryce Young, Trevor Lawrence, and Jeremiah Smith, among others.

Standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 195 pounds, Alvin Henderson is a standout running back prospect in the 2025 class. The product of Elba High School in Elba, Alabama is ranked as the No. 5 RB in the nation and the No. 8 prospect in the state, per 247Sports' Composite Rankings.

Henderson was in great demand out of high school, holding up to 44 offers, per 247Sports. He held offers from leading national powerhouses, including Penn State, Alabama, Baylor, BYU, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Indiana, Miami, and Notre Dame.

Henderson flipped his commitment from Penn State to Auburn in June 2024 and signed with the Tigers in December.

Alvin Henderson looks set to start his college career. Reports indicate he moved to Auburn the weekend before arriving at San Antonio for the Navy All-American Bowl practices. He is expected to enroll on campus following the bowl experience.

Alvin Henderson also won Gatorade Alabama Football Player of the Year Award

In 2024, Alvin Henderson set the Alabama state record by rushing for 3,620 yards and 61 touchdowns. He led Elba to an impressive 11-3 finish and the Class 1A state semifinals.

He also finished his high school career with the Alabama state career rushing record of 10,930 yards, the fifth-highest nationally in high school football.

His impressive achievements were recognized as he was named the Gatorade Alabama Football Player of the Year for 2024 in December. He was also a finalist for the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year award but lost out to Alabama signee, QB Keelon Russell.
