Others focused on the Kentucky-Louisville rivalry, with some suggesting that the point guard's commitment could help revive it, as it has been one-sided for years.
"Good for them. College basketball needs the Kentucky/Louisville rivalry back. Last 7 years, it's just been Kentucky beating the crap out of them," one fan wrote.
"Must have committed just to verse Kentucky😂," another fan said.
"Just Beat Kentucky Bro. All I'm asking," another fan wrote.
Brown chose the Cardinals over UCF, Alabama, Kansas, Michigan, LSU, Indiana and Kentucky, among others. He received 25 offers.
Mikel Brown Jr. becomes Louisville HC Patt Kelsey's first five-star recruit
With Mikel Brown Jr.'s commitment, Louisville coach Pat Kelsey, who took the reins of the team in March, has officially secured his first five-star recruit for the Cardinals. They were not able to land any commitment from the 10 offers they made this season.
The Cardinals have faced some tough competition in recruiting this season, as all nine of their other targets committed elsewhere, including Nate Ament and Jasper Johnson, who signed with Kentucky. Brown Jr.'s commitment could be the start of more commitments for Louisville.
