"Been waiting a long time for that": When 7x Super Bowl champ Tom Brady asked his high school teachers to 'sit down and shut up'

Tom Brady is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time. The seven-time Super Bowl champion is the winningest player in the history of the NFL and went to 10 Super Bowls during his 23 seasons in the league.

Brady's football journey began at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, California. He later visited the high school to give a keynote speech at the high school's "Fund a Dream Scholarship Benefit" on February 23, 2012.

Brady grabbed the opportunity and took friendly jabs at his high school teachers.

"It's finally nice to stand up here and to be able to tell some of my old teachers to sit down and shut up," Brady said during the speech, as per Kingston Media's YouTube channel. "Been waiting a long time for that."

Brady ended his 23-year NFL career with 89,214 passing yards, 649 touchdowns and 212 interceptions, with a completion percentage of 64.3%. He ended his career with a quarterback rating of 97.2. He has set all-time records in games started, pass attempts, completed passes, passing yards and touchdowns.

Tom Brady high school stats: How good was he for Junipero Serra High School?

Tom Brady, the greatest NFL quarterback of all time, had an interesting high school career at Junipero Serra High School. He watched his team go 0-8 during his freshman year as he failed to make an appearance for them.

However, the moment he got the keys to Junipero's offense, Brady showed his greatness, leading his team to a win in his first game as a high school starter. Brady threw for 3,514 yards and 33 touchdowns in his junior year and made the starting spot his own.

As a senior, the former New England Patriots quarterback threw for 3,962 yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while tallying eight scores and 332 yards on the ground.

Tom Brady had a terrific high school career, finishing in the top-5 for single-season touchdowns. He committed to the Michigan Wolverines and played for them from 1995 to 1999. During his time with the Wolverines, Brady recorded 4,773 yards, 30 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while completing 61.9% of his pass attempts.

Brady was selected 199th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots and went on to define his generation and become one of the greatest football players of all time. He put a curtain over his illustrious career on February 1, 2023, via social media.
