Indiana Pacers wing Benedict Mathurin practiced with Gilbert Arenas' son Alijah Arenas in an offseason open run. Arenas is a five-star recruit who is No. 4 in the 2026 ESPN 60 Recruiting Database. He has a five-star rating from ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports, and a four-star rating from On3.
The clip from the open run session was posted by Swish Cultures on Instagram which has highlights of Arenas and Mathurin. Basketball fans reacted to it and took to the comments section, including Gilbert Arenas himself.
Arenas praised Mathurin and was joined by other fans who also appreciated him.

"That’s what I like to see!! This is a compliment in sports! Push that young man!" one fan said.
"S**t like this gon make him even more tough 🔥," .another fan wrote.

Alijah Arenas' career timeline
The Chatsworth High School (California) shooting guard will enter his senior year. He is ranked No. 1 in his position and No. 3 regionally and in his state. In 62 games last season, Arenas averaged 31.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest.
Arenas started receiving offers from colleges in April 2023. He received nine offers that month: Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Fresno, UCLA, Xavier, Washington and Ole Miss.
Offers continued for the five-star recruit the following month from Washington, Arizona, California, Nebraska and Virginia. He received two more offers last year; from the Arizona Wildcats in June and Alabama in July. In 2024, Arenas has received an offer from West Virginia.
