Colorado signee Julian Lewis was present as the Buffs fell to a 36-14 loss to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl. The five-star recruit has been hanging around the Colorado team since the weeks after his last high school game.
He took part in practices ahead of the bowl game, and clips of him on the sidelines have attracted reactions online. An Instagram user speculated that Lewis may be out of Boulder after his first year:
“Bet he transfers after his 1st year.”
A few other netizens echoed this sentiment.
“He may be rethinking that decision looking at this o line.”
“They transferring after this BYU beat down smh.”
It was all about banter for other fans on the platform.
“Watching them get beaten lol,” one fan wrote.
“Juju be looking so unbothered,” another commented.
The Alamo Bowl, despite its great promise, was a big disappointment for the Colorado Buffaloes.
It was the first bowl appearance for the Buffs since 2020 and was significant in other ways. It was Coach Prime’s first bowl game since getting hired at Boulder and was also the final college game for many players, including Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders.
However, the loss was not without a silver lining. Shedeur ended his college career on a good personal note, passing for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Similarly, Hunter racked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
What Julian Lewis’ presence at the Alamo Bowl means for Colorado
Beyond the performance of their departing stars, though, the Buffs’ biggest reason to smile despite the loss is seeing how secure their future is. Julian Lewis is the undisputed heir to Shedeur as Colorado’s quarterback, and he was actively involved in the team’s Alamo Bowl practice.
Coach Prime closed one of the country’s most impressive recruiting classes out of high school this year, with Julian Lewis being his headline recruit. Other Colorado signees include four-star offensive tackle Carde Smith, four-star EDGE London Merritt and four-star receivers Adrian Wilson and Quanell Farrakhan Jr.
Colorado finished the 2024 season with a 9-4 record, a great improvement from its 4-8 finish in 2023.
