Four-star edge rusher Jayden Woods flipped his commitment from Penn State to Florida's 2025 class on Friday. He has been committed to the Nittany Lions since June, and the flip came just a week after officially visiting Gainesville for the Gators' 24-17 win over Ole Miss.
Woods is the No. 116 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 14 edge rusher in the 2025 class and the No. 4 recruit in Kansas. He has also received offers from LSU, Tennessee and Alabama, among others, throughout his recruitment journey.
Woods' commitment is a big recruitment win for Billy Napier's program, as he provides versatility at the defensive end position and has the caliber to shine as a linebacker.
Florida is also targeting Florida State interior offensive lineman commit Solomon Thomas, Texas wide receiver commit Jaime Ffrench and Oregon wide receiver commit Dallas Wilson.
Meanwhile, Woods' decommitment is a big blow for Penn State, especially less than a week away from the early signing period. Penn State’s 2025 class is left with 25 commits and slipped from No. 15 to No. 16 in the nation.
Jayden Woods opens up about his fit in the Penn State program
Jayden Woods is the ninth commitment for Florida since it decided to keep Billy Napier as the coach for the upcoming season. Wood is the fifth flip of the school in the past week.
This week, Napier's program landed commitments of four-star linebacker Ty Jackson, three-star wide receiver Muizz Tounkara, four-star running back Byron Louis and three-star wide receiver Muizz Tounkara.
Florida outside linebacker coach Mike Peterson played a big role in Woods' recruitment. Back in the spring, the coach detailed a potential future spot for Woods, which impressed him.
"They see me as a JACK in the defense," Woods told Swamp247. "Coach Peterson was telling me about what the JACK does in the defense. Talked to me about how it fits into his outside linebacker room. Coach Peterson is really genuine. I like talking to him."
With Jayden Woods' commitment, Florida has secured 20 commitments in the 2025 cycle and jumped from No. 18 to No. 15 nationally, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
