Five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners' 2025 recruiting class. He made the announcement during a ceremony at Lewisville High School in Texas, where he selected the Sooners over Missouri, Oregon and Texas A&M.

Fasusi's journey has been inspiring, as Wednesday's commitment came five years after he and his family had emigrated from Nigeria to the United States to seek better educational opportunities.

Fasusi grew up playing soccer, but after transitioning to football, his athleticism quickly earned him fame. Now, he's one of the most promising offensive linemen in the 2025 class.

Despite his commitment to Oklahoma, Fasusi said that he won't entirely close the door on his recruitment. He plans to maintain communication with coaches from other programs to leave the possibility of changes open in the future.

Michael Fasusi is ranked by On3 as the No. 32 player in the nation, the No. 7 offensive tackle in the 2025 class and the No. 5 player in the state of Texas. As per 247 Sports, he's the No. 27 player in the nation, the No. 5 offensive tackle in the 2025 class and the No. 8 player in the state.

Gabe Brooks, a scouting analyst at 247Sports, lauded Fasusi’s potential, noting his powerful punch and the promise of further development. Besides football, he also excels in track and field, especially in shot put, where he recorded a personal best of 52-2.5 as a junior.

Michael Fasusi shares the reason behind his commitment to Oklahoma

Michael Fasusi held nearly 40 scholarship offers from Power 4 programs, and he took official visits in the spring to Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, Missouri and Texas. Being a Texas native, he was projected to lean towards the Texas Longhorns or the Texas A&M, but Oklahoma won the race.

Michael Fasusi committed to the Sooners during a FaceTime call with coach Brent Venables on Aug. 7. Whether the potential for early playing time or a reported big NIL package swayed his decision, his words made it clear that the Sooners felt like the right fit.

"Me and my family, we sat down, prayed about it and came up with the right answer," Fasusi said (via ESPN).
"With Oklahoma, there was no 'but.' It was the only option that had no 'but' to it. The process was hard, but it became really easy for me to make this decision in the end."

Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh played a crucial role in Fasusi’s recruitment and welcomed him to Oklahoma on seven different visits over the last year and a half. The prospect even had high praise for coach Venables.

“Their plan for me is more than just football,” Fasusi told On3. “They have a great plan for me to grow and to develop. At Oklahoma, I can get developed as a player and a man. Coach B and coach V – I trust them both. They did a great job recruiting me and my family.

Fasusi is the highest ranked player in the Sooners' 2025 class and is also the program's 14th highest-rated commit ever, per 247Sports' Composite ranking. He joins Adepoju Adebawore, Jackson Arnold, Peyton Bowen and David Stone as former five-star recruits on its roster.

Michael Fasusi also becomes Oklahoma's second offensive tackle commitment and fourth offensive line commit of the 2025 cycle.
