Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham is one of four five-stars in Alabama's 2025 recruiting cycle. Despite his commitment since July, the blue-chip prospect has received attention from several top programs, as Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Florida State and Texas are all actively pursuing him.
Cunningham is set to visit coach Brian Kelly's LSU this weekend for the Tigers' Week 7 matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels, as reported by On3's Chad Simmons. This game is highly anticipated, with LSU ranked No. 13 and Ole Miss at No. 9 in the AP Top 25 poll.
Both teams are performing well this season, with Ole Miss holding a 5-1 record, including a 1-1 mark in SEC play. The Rebels' only loss came against Kentucky (20-17) on Sept. 28, while LSU sits at 4-1, its only loss being to USC (27-20) in the season opener on Sept. 1.
LSU and Ole Miss have a storied rivalry dating back to 1894. Last year, the Rebels won a thrilling shootout, 55-49.
Caleb Cunningham opens up about his upcoming LSU visit
Caleb Cunningham's LSU visit is one of the hottest discussions this week, and ahead of that, he spoke with Chad Simmons about LSU’s previous standing in his recruitment.
“LSU used to be high on my list and the staff had good energy about me,” Cunningham said. “I am committed to Alabama now, so I want to see if the staff has that same love and energy about me when I pull up.”
After losing the commitment of another five-star wide receiver, Dakorien Moore, earlier in the year, landing Cunningham will be a major coup for Brian Kelly and his staff. Despite the setback with Moore, LSU has a strong group of receivers committed for 2025, including Derek Meadows, TaRon Francis and Phillip Wright.
Cunningham also acknowledged that LSU has been persistent in its pursuit.
“LSU has definitely been on me hard,” Cunningham said. “They are still trying to make their way back in this thing. They stay in touch with me and I still have a good relationship with that staff."
While the Tigers have continued to show interest, Caleb Cunningham remains firm in his current commitment, expressing that he is "100% with Alabama."
Even after Alabama’s loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday, a surprising 40-35 upset, Cunningham affirmed that the defeat didn’t affect his feelings toward the Crimson Tide.
