Bryce James, son of the four-time NBA Champ LeBron James, progressed another step in his basketball career after committing to the Arizona Wildcats on Jan. 2. The Sierra Canyon High School player followed in his elder brother Bronny James' footsteps, who played for USC before joining his father in Los Angeles Lakers.
Bryce James took to his Instagram story on Tuesday to post a highlight of his father's dunk against the Dallas Mavericks earlier in the day. The video was originally posted by the famous basketball Instagram page "House of Highlights":
"OMG," James captioned his IG story.
While the Lakers lost 118-97 against the Mavericks, it was LeBron James who stole the highlight when he dunked the ball with his left hand over 7-foot-1 Dereck Lively. Check out the dunk below:
"LEBRON HOW?!?! YEAR 22. 😱👑," the post was captioned.
With Bryce James committing to the Wildcats, both of LeBron James' sons will be playing college basketball next season. The Sierra Canyon guard had offers from Ohio State and Duquesne before he committed to Tommy Lloyd's side.
He visited Arizona on Nov. 27 and also visited his elder brother's alma mater, USC, on Oct. 8. Ranked at the 204th position nationally, 55th in the shooting guard position and 28th in California, James represented his father's team, 'Strive for Greatness,' in the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. He averaged 5.6 PPG, 2.4 RPG and 1.0 BPG while shooting 31.4% in Jul 2024.
Furthermore, he also came up against the sons of legendary NBA players Carmelo Anthony and Carlos Boozer. Against Kiyan Anthony and Team Melo, James put up eight points and grabbed two boards while Anthony scored 18 points and dished out four assists.
He also faced the eventual champions Nightrydas and the Boozer twins where he scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds while shooting 55% on May 18.
NBA Insider's controversial statement about Bryce James' recruitment
Basketball insider Jeff Goodman shared his thoughts on Arizona signing James on Jan. 2. Goodman credited Rich Paul, who represents Bryce and works with LeBron at Klutch Sports, for the 6-foot-6 guard's recruitment.
"He's just kind of nondescript," Goodman said on the 'Field of 68 After Dark' podcast. But I think one of the key reasons here that he ended up at Arizona and Arizona takes him is because Rich Paul, who represents him. Obviously, Rich Paul is LeBron's buddy for Klutch (Sports)."
Being the son of arguably one of the greatest basketball players is not an easy task. However, Bryce James will continue to play for Sierra Canyon this season before he joins Dwayne Aristode next season in the Arizona Wildcats roster.
