Bryce James' Sierra Canyon secured a 78-58 win against the Coronado Cougars on Saturday. The game was a part of the Nike Chosen-1's Invitational at Dolby Theater in Las Vegas. However, Bryce, the son of the four-time NBA champion LeBron James, missed the matchup due to an injury.
His absence didn't matter much as Gavin Hightower, Chris Nwuli and Jayden Alexander had their pedal on the gas to help their school take the win. Hightower scored 18 points, Alexander had 17 and Nwuli put up 11 on the board.
With this win, Sierra Canyon now has an 8-1 record. In its previous game, the school lost to Kiyan Anthony's Long Island Lutheran High School in the LuHi Holiday Invitational on Friday. However, both Kiyan and Bryce James did not feature in that game due to injuries as Anthony's school took the 65-50 win.
From the win over Coronado, only one of the school's star performers, Chris Nwuli, has made his commitment, while Gavin Hightower and Kayden Alexander are yet to decide on their collegiate careers. Nwuli, who ranks at the 107th spot nationally, 25th in the power forward position and 12th in California, committed to Rutgers on Oct. 20.
Four-star recruit Alexander is the No. 11 player in the Class of 2026 and has received offers from Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Auburn, UCF and Georgia State, among others. He also ranks fifth in the shooting guard position and first in Florida in his class.
While Gavin Hightower ranks at the 33rd position in the point guard position, he is yet to decide which college he would pick after receiving offers from top programs including Iona, California, High Point, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico and more.
