Three-star Arizona commit Bryce James showed he did inherit LeBron's genes on Saturday when Sierra Canyon defeated nationally ranked Grayson High School during this year's Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts. Sierra Canyon (California) overcame Grayson (Georgia) 60-46, with Bryce being awarded the MVP.
The question is, did he deserve MVP honors in that game? His stats say so.
Per Legit Sports Stats, the youngest James son recorded 16 points, five rebounds and four steals while going 4 for 7 from behind the arc. While he was outscored by teammate Maximo Adams, who had 17 points that night, Bryce is considered to have had a more all-around game against the Grayson Rams, ranked No. 6 in the nation by MaxPreps.
It was also a defensive game for Sierra Canyon as a whole, with those four steals from Bryce James proving pivotal. The Trailblazers scored 12 points off turnovers, showing how well the team's defense had converted its prowess into points.
The Grayson Rams are led by one of the best scorers in high school basketball right now, five-star No. 3-ranked 2026 prospect Caleb Holt. However, Sierra Canyon held him to just seven points during the entire ballgame.
They also forced him to commit many mistakes, including turning the ball over seven times. He did have nine rebounds, but with him being defensively locked down, the Trailblazers were able to secure the big Hoophall Classic win.
With their win against Grayson, Bryce James and Co. are now on a five-game winning streak, with their record improving to 16-3 for the season.
