It looks like four-star center Xavion Staton will be moving to Utah sooner than expected, and he will be acclimating with fellow BYU signee AJ Dybantsa already. This is because the seven-footer will be transferring to Dybantsa's school, Utah Prep, as announced on Monday.
Staton used to play for Sierra Vista in Las Vegas, Nevada. In transferring to Utah Prep, he will be yet another option for four-star point guard JJ Mandaquit to pass to, as well as hone his teamwork with AJ Dybantsa before they go to BYU together.
This transfer shocked many, with fans taking to the comments section to express their opinions of Utah Prep getting yet another star player and BYU being stacked next year.
"BYU finna be so deadly next year," one commenter noted.
"Team chemistry gonna be crazy next year," another commenter added.
"Bigtime piece! + JJ Mandaquit 🔥🔥 Probably the best team in HS basketball!," one fan claimed.
More commenters chimed in, with some complimenting Utah Prep for picking up the Top 35 center.
"Ryan Smith has the coin and wants BYU and Pro Sports at the top." commented one person.
"Good pickup," another hoops fan said.
"Hopefully Xavion got some Art credits in Vegas. Utah requires 2 Art credits to graduate. I had 4 Art classes my senior year, after moving to Utah lol," one commenter pointed out.
The No. 30 ranked overall from the Class of 2025 has now gotten his new rankings, as he is now the No. 3 ranked player in Utah. He is also the No. 4 ranked center in his class. He chose BYU over the likes of Kansas, Michigan, Stanford, and UNLV.
Xavion Staton probably debuting for Utah Prep vs. Jermaine O'Neal Jr. and Dynamic Prep
As for when Xavion Staton will begin playing for Utah Prep, it will probably be during the Iverson Classic in Newark, New Jersey on Friday. The Athletes will be taking on a red-hot opponent in Dynamic Prep, coached by former NBA All-Star Jermaine O'Neal, with the team being led by his son, Jermaine O'Neal Jr.
Should Staton make his debut during that game, it will not only feature an anticipated battle at the small forward position between Dybantsa and O'Neal Jr. but also a center battle between him and fellow four-star center Jaden Toombs. Both O'Neal Jr. and Toombs have signed with SMU.
