Cam Skattebo, the Arizona State Sun Devils' star running back, grabbed headlines after a terrific performance against the Texas Longhorns at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. However, his heroics amounted to nothing as the Sun Devils heartbreakingly lost the game, ending their season.
Skattebo became a Sun Devil in 2023 after playing for the Sacramento State Hornets for a couple of years. Prior to that, the running back suited up for Rio Linda High School and played there for three years. During his time with Rio Linda, the 5-10 rusher racked up 6,192 yards and scored 69 touchdowns.
In his junior year, Skattebo accumulated 3,550 yards and 42 touchdowns on 305 carries and led his team to a 13-2 record. He followed that up with another brilliant season, going off for 1,650 yards and 18 touchdowns on 160 carries, leading the Knights to a 9-3 record.
The California native was an unranked prospect and received offers from Sacramento State and William & Mary. Despite the lack of interest from top D-1 programs, Skattebo bet on himself and is now widely regarded as the second-best running back in college football behind Boise State's Ashton Jeanty.
