West Virginia fans are buzzing with excitement after Chris Henry Jr., a five-star wide receiver and Ohio State commit, shared updates on his injury recovery journey. Through posts on X (formerly Twitter), he showcased his progress with rehab and workout videos, drawing admiration and support from the Mountaineer faithful.
This sparked excitement among fans, with one commenting:
“You’re going to love Morgantown bro. Can’t wait to have ya.”
Another encouraged him, saying:
“Keep grinding, Chris! Pain is weakness leaving the body!”
Here is how other fans expressed their reactions:
"WVU would make ya famous man! Legacy shit!," a fan remarked.
"Can't wait to see you in that Scarlet and Grey at THE!," another remarked.
"Believe in the process!," a fan quipped.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 195 pounds, Henry Jr. is ranked as one of the top wideouts in the 2026 recruiting class. He committed to Ohio State in July 2023, choosing the Buckeyes over more than 40 offers from elite programs such as Georgia and Michigan.
Henry Jr., however, has become the focus of speculation regarding a potential flip to West Virginia, particularly after the return of Rich Rodriguez to Morgantown.
Henry Jr., the son of the late Bengals star and former West Virginia receiver Chris Henry, has often reflected on his father’s influence on his game.
"When I watch my dad’s West Virginia highlights, it’s crazy. We run the same, catch the same," he told WCPO, adding, "Living up to his legacy is important. I think he’d be proud of where I am today."
Rich Rodriguez returns to West Virginia: Eyes on 5-star prospect Chris Henry Jr.
West Virginia University has announced Rich Rodriguez’s return as head football coach. Rodriguez, who previously led WVU from 2001 to 2007, earned a 60-26 record, four Big East titles, and two New Year’s Six bowl appearances.
Renowned for his high-scoring spread-option offense, he narrowly missed a BCS National Championship berth in 2007. Seventeen years later, Rodriguez, now 61, is back in Morgantown after three seasons at Jacksonville State.
"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Rich Rodriguez and his family back home," athletic director Baker stated, adding, "Coach Rodriguez understands what it takes to win at West Virginia, and I believe he will pour his heart, soul and every ounce of his energy into our program."
Rodriguez replaces Neal Brown, who struggled during his six-year tenure with a 37-35 record and 25-28 in conference play. Brown’s departure signals a fresh start for WVU, with fans and supporters eager for Rodriguez’s leadership.
Rodriguez expressed excitement about his return:
"My family and I are filled with gratitude to lead the Mountaineer football program again and look forward to working with the many supporters, fans, and friends to build the best football program in America! Take Me Home!"
Key backers like Ken Kendrick, Pat McAfee, and Ike Morris are expected to bolster WVU's recruiting efforts. One high-profile target is Henry Jr. Adding to the intrigue, Henry Jr. recently posted a clip of his father’s iconic game-winning touchdown for West Virginia in an overtime victory against Maryland in 2004.
Henry Jr. is currently ranked No. 1 in the 2026 ESPN Jr. 300 and No. 3 overall by 247Sports.
