Two-time NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer will soon see his sons play for his alma mater, Duke. The Boozer twins committed to the Blue Devils on Oct. 11 and signed on Nov. 14 while they continue to play for their high school team, the Columbus Explorers from Miami, Florida. Both Cayden and Cameron Boozer represented the Explorers in their match against Dynamic Prep on Friday.
Carlos Boozer was sitting on the sidelines as the Explorers defeated Dynamic Prep 73-55 in the final game of MadeHoops Event's first day. He took to Instagram to share a picture from the game along with a 2-word reaction:
"Game Time 🤍," Carlos Boozer captioned the story.
Carlos Boozer was joined by more former NBA players including 6-time NBA All-Star Jermaine O'Neal and 2001-02 NBA All-Rookie team member Jason Richardson. O'Neal's son, Jermaine, plays for Dynamic Prep, while Jaxon Richardson plays for Columbus.
The No. 2 recruit continued to dominate on offense as he scored a double-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 steals while shooting 50.0% to lead the Explorers to the win. He was supported by his brother, Cayden Boozer who also recorded a double-double with 10 points on 5-9 shooting and 10 assists, showing his passing prowess once again.
Check out some of the highlights of the 6-foot-9 power forward as he made some tough shots and dominated defenders in the paint, posted by MADE Hoops on Saturday:
Jaxon Richardson added 19 points on 69.2% shooting and Caleb Gaskins had 16 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 75.0%.
Carlos Boozer's sons chose Duke over Miami
With plenty of offers from top colleges including Florida, Kentucky, Florida State, Arkansas, North Carolina, Kansas, Michigan and Texas, the Boozer twins admitted that their final choice was between Duke and Miami while talking with the Miami Herald:
"There’s great tradition at both schools, so there was really no wrong answer," Cameron said on Nov. 14. "But I think what Duke has in terms of infrastructure they’ve built over the years and the amazing coaching staff they’ve put together made the difference for us."
They will join Shelton Henderson and Nikolas Khamenia as recruits.
Three more matches will be played on Dec. 7 with Combine taking on Sagemonth, Gonzaga facing Columbus and SoCal Academy locking horns with Dynamic Prep at Miami-Dade College's Gibson Center.
