Kiyan Anthony missed many games after his nasty fall during Long Island Lutheran's season opener against St. Joseph's on Nov. 30. However, the four-star Syracuse commit and son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony has returned to practice, and his mother, actress LaLa Anthony, shared the news on her Instagram Stories.
"The Comeback!" LaLa Anthony wrote in her Instagram story on Friday.
Kiyan Anthony did shooting drills and even had a one-on-one scrimmage as he practiced to possibly shake some rust off before he is finally cleared to return. However, there is still no word on when he will return.
The four-star Long Island Lutheran shooting guard was heavily advertised to play during last weekend's Jordan Holiday Classic. However, he remained on the inactive list due to his injury. Long Island Lutheran faced off against the Boozer Twins, Cameron and Cayden, and the Columbus Explorers, with LuHi winning 77–66.
Kiyan also missed the game against that big 65–50 win against Bryce James' Sierra Canyon. However, the second son of LeBron James also missed that game. He also missed the Dec. 7 game against defending national champions Montverde Academy, 65–59, and the Dec. 15 game against Chris Cenac and Link Academy, 66–42.
Long Island Luther is not scheduled to play until Jan. 10, meaning Kiyan still has plenty of time to ready himself for a possible return. The team's scheduled opponent during that game is Veritas Academy.
Mingo Brothers carrying Long Island Lutheran during Kiyan Anthony's absence
Despite Kiyan Anthony missing all of LuHi's games aside from the season opener due to injury, Long Island Lutheran managed to hang on and currently has an 8-5 record. This is largely thanks to the efforts of Kayden and Dylan Mingo, the Mingo brothers.
Four-star Penn State commit Kayden had 14 against Sierra Canyon, while his five-star younger brother, Dylan, had 20, as the Kiyan Anthony-less Crusaders took care of the Bryce James-less Trailblazers.
The brothers also led the Crusaders in that upset against the Columbus Explorers. Kayden Mingo had 25 points, four rebounds and three assists, while, his younger brother had 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
The pair stepped up during Kiyan's absence. Four-star Nigel James also helped out.
