When Kiyan Anthony was in Tokyo with his mom, La La, and his cousin, he vlogged his trip for the Overtime YouTube channel, much like the time he went to Paris for the Olympics with his dad, Carmelo Anthony. During a trip to a Japanese thrift store, Kiyan let something slip that his mom would have scolded him for back in middle school.

During the vlog, Kiyan Anthony admitted he was really into Beyblades in middle school and he used to skip classes so that he and his friends could have Beyblade tournaments in the hallway. This was when La La Anthony walked in and overheard what he was saying.

"I was skipping middle school to have... I used to go in the hallway and have Beyblade tournaments for the bread," Kiyan Anthony said. (2:38-2:43)

Kiyan was in Japan with several members of his family, taking some time off for the summer now that the Nike EYBL Peach Jam is finally over. On his trip, he went to several places, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, experiencing the culture and going shopping. The aforementioned episode in particular was dedicated to his Japan trip.

While he was mostly there for clothes, he was also checking out some anime goods and this was what led him to get into trouble by opening his mouth. He was checking out some figures from the classic anime, "Yu-Gi-Oh!" This was when Kiyan brought up Beyblades and then La La walked in. When the four-star recruit was confessing, La La was playfully hitting him with a water bottle.

Kiyan Anthony played a lot of other games when he was younger

Despite being Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony originally did not have basketball as his main sport. Instead, it was baseball, though he was also very much interested in other sports, including football. As La La also admitted during the vlog, Kiyan was obsessed with Beyblades when he was younger.

Eventually, the younger Anthony grew better with basketball and qualified for a team, eventually focusing more and more on the sport and leaving baseball behind. However, he said during a previous vlog that he really had fun hitting the ball.

Now in his senior year, Kiyan Anthony is on track to go to college. He is ranked the No. 34 recruit in the country and is now down to his final three school choices, namely Syracuse, USC and Auburn.
