Kiyan Anthony has had an advantage over many others in the class of 2025. That is because he has rubbed shoulders with the best basketball players on the planet due to his father, Carmelo Anthony.
This was evident when he went to Paris over the summer to watch the 2024 Summer Olympics, where he got to learn from these players.
He opened up about learning from them firsthand during an interview with Pro Insight's Tyler Glazier during the USA Basketball junior minicamp at Colorado Springs, from Oct. 11-13.
Glazier asked Kiyan Anthony about his experience watching Team USA in Paris and meeting some of the best players in the world. In response to this, the 4-star guard admitted that it was a "crazy" experience.
"Going to Paris was definitely like something crazy, like seeing, you know, the best players ever to touch a ball, they're all in the same court and the leadership that's in between there," he explained.
The younger Anthony then stated that these same players, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and Anthony Edwards, helped him learn more.
"The people like LeBron, KD, Steph, listening to, you know, other people like Anthony Edwards and stuff like that. I took a lot away from that, like anybody could talk on the court," Kiyan Anthony said. "Even if you're not technically the best player or doing the best stuff, anybody could pick anything from anybody. So, I feel like that's what I really picked up from it and just seeing them when they was down, how they came back, cold timeout came out, went on the run. So I feel like that's what I really picked up from."
Kiyan himself has had international basketball success, much like his father Carmelo. Also during the summer, he and the rest of USA Basketball's U-17 team competed at the U-17 World Cup in Turkey and won the gold medal.
Kiyan Anthony and his whirlwind summer
Kiyan Anthony has had one of the busiest summers of his life so far. He did not just participate in the FIBA U-17 World Cup and go to Paris to watch the Olympics. The youngster also participated in Peach Jam, the biggest summer youth basketball league in the country.
That is not all for him, though, as he also appeared with his dad, Carmelo, on Paul George's podcast, Podcast P. He also got to train with George, whom Kiyan was not shy about admitting that he was a big fan of.
