Having famous parents like Carmelo and LaLa Anthony means Kiyan Anthony's version of normal life differs from that of everyday people. On Thursday's episode of Angel Reese's show, "Unapologetically Angel," the four-star shooting guard discussed his lifestyle both on and off the court.
When Reese asked him if he ever feels like he couldn't live a "normal life," Anthony said:
“It depends on where I'm at. Like at the tournaments, I can't walk outside. I can't even go. I got to walk through the gym with a bunch of people because it gets crazy. But when I'm in Brooklyn with my friends, I can walk around because I know everybody. In New York, if you are from the area, you're going to be cool with everybody” (14:25)
Kiyan Anthony's college recruitment overview
Kiyan Anthony is one of the highest-rated shooting guards in the 2025 class, ranked in the top 10 by On3, 247Sports and ESPN. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound star is a senior at Long Island Lutheran High School in Glen Head, New York.
His high school career has convinced scouts and analysts of his ability. On3 scouting report described him as “wired to score the ball,” while 247Sports’ Eric Bossi noted his development “as a dangerous scorer/handler.”
However, college basketball is a different challenge than high school basketball. Nevertheless, many college programs are making a bet on his ability to deliver at that level, with 21 offers as testimonies to that belief, per 247Sports.
Anthony's college offers come from different conferences, with USC, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee and Florida State among the top programs.
Syracuse, USC and Florida State are the top contenders, with the Orange tipped as favorites. His dad won the NCAA Tournament with Syracuse in 2003, and he may be inspired to explore a similar adventure with the Orange.
Carmelo Anthony went on to be the third overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets. He came behind his childhood friend LeBron James, who was the No. 1 pick.
However, he has more than just a legacy on his mind. He told Angle Reese what the deciding factor would be regarding which program he would commit to.
“Just what coaches have been on me the latest and where I can go in right away and see growth, where I can develop my game and just try to win,” Anthony said. (5:52)
With growth taking preeminence in Kiyan Anthony's mind, he has set an expectation to blaze his path.
