High school basketball star Kiyan Anthony may be considered one of the best players in the class of 2025, but few know that he also played baseball.

During the USA Basketball junior minicamp from Oct. 11-13 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he spoke with Pro Insight's Tyler Glazier and talked about his baseball days.

Glazier asked Anthony if he also played other sports aside from basketball when he was growing up. To this, the 4-star shooting guard revealed that even though his father Carmelo Anthony is an NBA legend, the first sport he played was actually baseball.

"I mean baseball was my first sport," he told Pro Insight. "I played baseball when I was younger, I just thought it was super fun like hitting the ball, but then I went to a basketball tryout. I made the team. I wasn't really playing but I had a lot of fun like on a trips and stuff and then I started getting better."

Kiyan Anthony explained that even though he was still focused on baseball, he was beginning to improve his basketball game, eventually focusing only on his father's sport.

"And then I started getting better, I started getting on the court making plays, so I feel like once I started doing that it was like oh basketball was fun," he added. "It's so many opportunities that come with it so that's why I like, when did you start, like playing baseball, I would say like 12, like even when I first started playing basketball I was still focused on baseball, but now like playing basketball more and more getting better."
"I just let baseball go," he explained.

He is currently the No. 34 ranked player for the class of 2025. He is also the No. 8 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in the state of New York.

Kiyan Anthony impressed during USA Basketball junior minicamp

When USA Basketball calls for recruits to play for flag and country, they only invite the best, and Kiyan Anthony was one of them. During that same junior minicamp in Colorado, the Long Island Lutheran shooting guard was one of the players who stood out.

Scouts have found that he still needs improvement in strength, yet Kiyan has shown that he has already improved in that department. He is also showing that he has become better at ball handling and decision-making.

However, it was his scoring ability and being able to go against other top players that had many scouts talking.
