Brandon McCoy, the 6-foot-4 point guard ranked No. 2 nationally in the 2026 class, knows how to keep his fans engaged. On Tuesday, the St. John Bosco High School star shared a series of snaps on Instagram where he is seen rocking a hoodie, white t-shirt and grey sweatpants.
However, it was the caption that stirred up the comment section. The young guard made a bold statement:
“They worried about taking my lane, but they haven't even gotten on the road.”
The post quickly garnered attention, with notable reactions from high-profile basketball families.
One was from Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA great Carmelo Anthony, who dropped a simple comment:
“OK,” he said, seemingly acknowledging Brandon McCoy’s confident message.
Next was Me’arah O’Neal, Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter and a college freshman for the Florida Gators.
She chimed in with a crisp comment:
“Cool guy”
McCoy’s teammate Christian Collins, a 6-foot-8 five-star forward ranked No. 15 in the 2026 class, also gave props, writing:
“caption💯.”

Top programs hot on Brandon McCoy's trail
Despite his high school graduation still a year away, Brandon McCoy continues to rake in offers from top programs across the country. According to 247Sports, the youngster has around 25 offers on the table, with heavyweights like Duke, UCLA, Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State and Kentucky in pursuit.
Following the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, McCoy discussed Duke's offer with basketball recruiting analyst Steve Clark from TheDevilsDen.com:
"They have reached out a lot more, and I saw them at my game today. I've talked with Coach (Jon) Scheyer, and he also texts me a lot, as does Coach (Jai) Lucas. They are really cool guys, and I definitely would like to come and take a visit to Duke.”
On Nov. 1, McCoy visited the Blue Devils campus, fueling rumors that he is going to commit to Duke University. The star player, who holds both the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship gold medals, remains undecided.
According to On3, the Duke Blue Devils lead the race with a 65.1% chance, while their closest contender, USC, has just a 1.8% chance.
