Cortez Mills, a four-star wide receiver from Homestead, Florida, was committed to the Oklahoma Sooners — until he wasn't. Mills shocked everyone on Wednesday and flipped his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in front of a live audience.
Mills announced his pledge to the Sooners on July 1. He chose the Brent Venables-led side over other top programs such as Miami, Florida and LSU. Despite his pledge to Oklahoma, the Cornhuskers still pursued him prospect and came out on top.
SportsCenter NEXT shared the video of Mills flipping his commitment to Nebraska on its Instagram account on Sunday and it generated a lot of buzz among college football fans. The video raised conflicting opinions as some found it interesting, while others criticized the receiver's way of announcing his decision.
"Creative," one fan said.
"Best of luck young man," another fan commented.
"Yeah I’m lost lol congrats doe buddy," another fan wrote.
Many were not happy with Mills and expressed their feelings in the comments section.
"Who was guiding this young man through this?" one fan wrote.
"Classless. Wouldn’t want him on my team, he’s focused on likes and attention not football," another fan said.
"Can’t wait til OU rolls over this dude.. gonna be funny.. will keep this receipt.. he gonna regret this corny stuff bro," another fan commented.
Mills made a couple of visits to Nebraska's campus while committed to the Sooners. Those visits paid off as Mills became the Cornhuskers' 20th commitment from the Class of 2025.

Cortez Mills talked about his commitment to the Cornhuskers and the program not giving up on pursuing him which won him over.
"Nebraska never went away," Mills said on Dec. 4, via On3. "The Nebraska coaches never let their foot off the brake. They recruited me, my mom, my sister, we all had a bond and that love meant something. We made the decision as a family that Nebraska is best for me."
Mills is ranked No.137 in the country and the No.19 wide receiver in the Class of 2025, per On3. He is also the No. 20 prospect from the state of Florida.
