Five-star prospect Tajh Ariza, son of former NBA player Trevor Ariza, showed off his skills while playing for Westchester High School. The Instagram video by dc7visuals shows Tajh's performance during a CIF Southern Section Championships game against Heritage Hall in Torrance, California.
The post tagged Tajh Ariza and his team's Instagram account, calling the Westchester Comets star "a double double machine." Soon after, Ariza commented on the post.
"Cone drills," he wrote.
With an NBA champion for a father, Tajh has said he is getting strict training from him, with the teen crediting his father's drills for his improvement. During an interview with Slam Online, he said he is now more explosive because of this.
“I started dunking on people, so that’s when I noticed that it started helping," Tajh said.
Trevor Ariza trains his son personally, overseeing his drills, which include more common ones like shooting and ballhandling drills, as well as sand drills in some of LA's many dunes. When he is off the court, his learning does not end, as he also studies how larger guards, such as Paul George and Brandon Miller, play and create space off the bounce.
He often wakes up as early as 5:30 a.m. to begin his training, and he usually starts with a run in the sands. He will then hit the showers, have breakfast and then go to school. After that, he will train some more, going over drills he was not able to do in the morning. He then heads to the court for some more drills.
Tajh Ariza impresses fans with Battle by the Beach performance
The 6-foot-7 prospect from Playa Del Rey in Los Angeles, California, is currently part of the Battle by the Beach: The High School Fall Invite, a tournament pitting several top high schools against one another. During one of the games, "Ballislife" on Instagram posted a highlight reel of his performance, earning him even more praise.
In the video, Trevor Ariza can be seen watching his son play, and basketball fans couldn't help but comment on his son's performance that night.
"Keep working young fella!!!" one fan wrote.
"pro work," said another.
