"Cuh got the Pete the cat shoes on": Fans react to 5-star Alabama QB commit Keelon Russell's cleats on senior night

Five-star quarterback Keelon Russell made a statement in custom Rick Owens cleats on Senior Night. The Texas native sported the same cleats that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy debuted a few months earlier. Worthy wore the cleats during the Chiefs' opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 6.

Worthy had a great game against the Ravens, catching two passes for 47 yards and scoring a touchdown, in addition to rushing for 21 yards and another score. Russell led his team to a massive, 50-6 win over Mesquite Skeeters at home on senior night, wearing those same Rick Owens cleats.

The Instagram page ot7 shared a video of Russell wearing the cleats, prompting fans to quickly voice their opinions about them. Most fans had fun with the post, leaving humorous comments.

"Bro got the Charles Entertainment Cheese steppas on his feet," one fan said.

"I wouldn’t do it, but it’s clean," another fan wrote.

"Mannn," another fan commented, with a laughing emoji.

However, a few fans liked Russell's overall look and were fans of the cleats.

"they supposed to be rick owen cleats," another fan wrote.

"Yall can’t hate cuz yall aint neva seen ts," another fan commented.

Keelon Russell is ranked No.12 in the country and is the third-best quarterback in the Class of 2025, as per On3. He is also the fifth-best overall prospect from the state of Texas.

Keelon Russell flipped his commitment to Alabama from SMU in June

Keelon Russell, a five-star quarterback from Duncanville, Texas, announced his commitment to SMU back in September 2023. However, Kalen DeBoer's Alabama managed to flip Russell's decision in June.

The quarterback's father spoke about his son's decision to join the Crimson Tide over the Mustangs.

"When you look at the recent history, Mac Jones, Bryce Young, Tua... there have been so many great quarterbacks at Alabama," Russell said (as per Touchdown Alabama).

"Another thing is the quarterback room is very small, meaning that Jalen Milroe will possibly go to the NFL... So when he goes in December to Alabama, he’ll be on an even playing field."

Alabama's Class of 2025 is the best in the country, as per 247Sports. Kalen DeBoer's team has landed 23 commitments so far, including five five-star prospects.
