Four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford is committed to Georgia but offers keep coming for him from other college programs. The latest program to throw its hat in the ring is Indiana, as Curt Cignetti's coaching staff extended an offer to Spafford on Thursday.
Vance shared the news on X, tagging Indiana offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach Mike Shanahan.
"Extremely blessed to receive an offer to Indiana University !! All Glory To God !! @CoachShanahan_."
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound standout from Mission Viejo High School in California committed to Georgia on Nov. 4, but the offers have not stopped coming in. This offer from Indiana is Spafford's second since his pledge, following Oklahoma State’s pursuit on Dec. 20.
Spafford is ranked as the No. 76 overall player and the No. 13 wide receiver in the 2026 class by the On3 Industry Rankings. In his junior season this year, he recorded 57 receptions for 1,017 yards and 15 touchdowns in just 11 games. He also proved his versatility on special teams with two blocked punts.
Indiana is fresh off an impressive 11-2 season, but has yet to secure a commitment for its 2026 recruiting class. Spafford’s addition would provide a big boost, but the Hoosiers face a tough challenge in flipping him from Georgia. Indiana’s staff will need to craft a lucrative recruitment pitch to lure him away, which might include a big NIL deal.
Vance Spafford shares the reasons behind his commitment to Georgia
Vance Spafford chose Georgia among a list of his top 5 schools, which also featured Arizona, Ole Miss, Nebraska and Washington alongside the Bulldogs. He joins cornerback Jontavius Wyman, tight end Lincoln Keyes and defensive lineman Seven Cloud on the roster.
“Georgia’s has the best everything," Spafford told On3. "They have always the best of the best. Georgia has a great defense, they have a great offensive line, which attracts a great quarterback. And then great quarterbacks attract great receivers."
Wide receiver coach James Coley and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo were crucial in Spafford's commitment.
"Coach Coley is my guy," Spafford said. "I love coach Bobo’s offense. D Hill (David Hill) has recruited me hard. Even with a lot of other recruits there, like D.J. (Dijon Lee), Justus Terry and some other five-stars, I felt like they still really prioritized me."
Spafford has drawn comparisons to former Georgia standout Ladd McConkey, and he is expected to live up to those comparisons after he signs with the Bulldogs following his senior season.
