Alabama's historic 41-34 win against Georgia on Saturday night was predicted to bring some positive news for the Crimson Tide's recruitment classes, and it started with Darrell Johnson's reaffirmation of his commitment. The four-star athlete has been committed to the school since March.
Johnson was among several high-profile recruits in attendance at Nick Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium to witness Alabama’s big win. This game also marked Kalen DeBoer’s first win in the Southeastern Conference as the new Alabama coach. This phenomenal game-day experience was enough for Johnson to shut down his recruitment.
“I have found my home, I love it here," Johnson told On3's Hayes Fawcett. "I’m 100% locked in & shutting down my recruitment. Roll Tide!”
Johnson had previously visited Auburn on June 14 and had entertained interest from other programs. However, Alabama always held his attention, and he remained loyal through the summer.
However, this isn't the first time Johnson has spoken publicly about his strong commitment to the Crimson Tide. In a June interview with On3, he expressed his confidence in his decision, saying,
“Oh yeah, I’m feeling very good about my commitment. It’s going to be very hard for somebody to come in and change that. It’s just the way they showed my family around again. They made it comfortable."
Darrell Johnson is one of the highest-rated prospects in Alabama's 2025 class, which also features five-star prospects like Keelon Russell, Ty Haywood, Caleb Cunningham and Dijon Lee. The cycle ranks No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference.
