After his hectic summer and upcoming senior year at Long Island Lutheran, four-star prospect Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, is choosing which school he will go to for college.
During an interview on the League Ready YouTube channel, Kiyan was asked about his top three choices by host Jason Jordan.
Previously, on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Carmelo revealed that his son is down to only two schools, USC and Syracuse. However, during the Nov. 12 League Ready interview, Kiyan Anthony was asked about his final three choices, which included Auburn.
"Definitely just trying to give back to, you know, my parents getting their opinions about everything," Kiyan Anthony told host Jason Jordan.
"My family y just sitting back and really talking to them, obviously, it's still constant communication, but I wouldn't say every single day just trying to they all the coaches understand they giving me space to make my own decision." (7:52-8:07)
The four-star prospect noted that no matter what he chooses, they would all wish him the best.
Later in the interview, Jordan asked Kiyan about is his favorite coach among the final three, and the younger Anthony had a definitive answer.
"I Gotta Give it to Bruce, Bruce Pearl," he answered. (10:26-10:27)
"You know our phone calls on the phone and then the few times I seen him in person just his energy and when he coaches you know after when he’s the first one taking his shirt off he likes all the buckets of water being poured on him so I feel like Friday night when its time to have fun and party Bruce Pearl definitely one of the guys," he explained. (10:30-10:45)
Bruce Pearl coaches the Auburn Tigers and has been very forward in his efforts to recruit the younger Anthony.
Kiyan Anthony to reveal his decision on his father's podcast
As for when he will be revealing his decision, the date has been set for Nov. 15, Friday, and he will do it on his father's YouTube podcast, "7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony & The Kid Mero."
While he said that Bruce Pearl is his favorite coach from the final three schools he has chosen, Auburn is ranked the least by On3, with a less than 1% chance of getting Kiyan Anthony.
USC, where he could spend more time with his mom, La La, ranks second at 2.3%. His father's alma mater, Syracuse, remains the favorite at 93.7%.
