Three-star cornerback LaRue Zamorano, from Corona, California, is gradually becoming one of the most highly touted prospects in the 2025 class. He has already received offers from Arizona, Oregon, USC, Michigan State, Penn State, Kansas and Washington.
Head coach DeShaun Foster's UCLA entered the competition on Thursday by extending an offer to LaRue Zamorano. The cornerback shared the news on X, writing:
"Blessed to say that l've received an offer from UCLA 🐻 #DoMore #WelcomeToTheFosEra @DeShaunFoster26 @brian_ohana5 @COACHSTACE_ @Cen10Football"
"@GregBiggins @ChadSimmons_ @adamgorney @BlairAngulo."
Despite battling injuries over the past year, Zamorano's potential remains evident. With a height of 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, he possesses the physical attributes necessary to contend with larger wide receivers, and his speed enables him to effectively cover the field. National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins sees him as a high Power 4 prospect, with the potential to be a multi-year starter at the college level.
Zamorano is the No. 498 cornerback in the 2025 class and the No. 42 player in California, per On3. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 53 cornerback in the class and the No. 51 player in the state.
Michigan State is trending for LaRue Zamorano's pledge
Michigan State appears to be in a strong position to secure the commitment of LaRue Zamorano. The Spartans have received two 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions favoring them, with Mountain Region recruiting analysts Blair Angulo and Greg Biggins both picking Michigan State. Even the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Spartans a 96.1% chance of earning Zamorano's pledge.
LaRue Zamorano visited Michigan State during the spring and also made an official visit on May 31. Speaking with SpartanMag.com, he shared his impressions of the visit and the program.
“Michigan State, one thousand percent exceeded my exceptions I set for them. I wanted to come back and see the rest. The day I got there was their first day back to summer conditioning. I got to see them workout and how they interact with the coaches, spend some time with the players and stuff, so everything was great.”
Zamorano was hosted by freshman defensive back Jaylen Thompson and developed a strong relationship with Michigan State cornerback coach Demetrice Martin. The enthusiastic fan base also left a lasting impression on him.
“The fans there are crazy. I walked into the store and they were like, ‘Oh, you are on an official visit right?” The fans are crazy. That is something I most definitely want to come back to.”
Michigan State's 2025 recruiting class currently boasts 15 committed players and ranks No. 52 in the nation. The class is headlined by Jace Clarizio, Leo Hannan, Charles White, DiMari Malone and Jayden Savoury, among others.
