Rapper and songwriter BigXthaPlug, best known for his songs such as "Texas," "Whip It," "Climate" and "Levels," may be known more for rapping these days. Back in high school though, he was a football star and played both offensive and defensive lines. In fact, he was good enough to attract the attention of Division I scouts.
Fans were reminded of his high school football past when clips of him playing for Ferris High School in Texas surfaced, and these clips went viral.
Some fans made fun of his plus-size body, but he had showed that he is able to run and protect his teammates as a lineman.
"Now he dashes to McDonalds 40 times a day! 🍔🍟m" one commenter wrote.
"Did they tie food to a stick and made him chase it," another commenter quipped.
"they had a big mac combo at the 40 line," said another one.
Not all made fun of him though, as there were many others who complimented him and said that he may have been good enough to play in the big leagues.
"Nah had he kept playing he would’ve went somewhere 🔥," said one fan.
"Nah he looked like a pretty good player," commented another.
"When he stop ? Look like he was good enough to go next level," put another commenter.
While his prowess as a lineman attracted many scouts, BigXthaPlug was not recruited and instead enrolled at Crown College in Minnesota. However, after being caught selling marijuana to other students, he was expelled from school and this ended his collegiate football dreams.
He eventually went to a life of crime, robbing drug dealers and going to jail. However, after he was sent to jail again, he missed his son's birthday and this would eventually impact him enough to try and turn his life around. He pursued music seriously and became one of the biggest rappers in Texas.
BigXthaPlug performed during Houston Texans' home opener vs. the Chicago Bears
BigXthaPlug had not been shy anout wanting to make it big on the gridiron, even claiming on multiple interviews that he could have made it to the NFL had he not gotten in legal trouble.
He did, however, perform during the halftime show of an NFL game, the Houston Texans' home opener against the Chicago Bears last September. The halftime performance at NRG Stadium featured not just BigXThaPlug but also Slim Thug and Maxo Kream. The Texans won that game 19-13.
