"Do you see a day one starter": Alabama fans react to Keelon Russell's TD pass to Naeshaun Montgomery at the UA All-American game

The five-star quarterback from Duncanville High School in Texas, Keelon Russell was in action on Thursday during the UA All-American Game. The game featured the best high school talent from the country. Russell was part of a team that consisted of stars such as wide receivers Dakorien Moore and Vernell Brown III.

Russell had a great outing on Thursday, throwing for 120 yards and a touchdown while completing seven of his 11 pass attempts. His only touchdown pass was a beautiful dime to four-star recruit Naeshaun Montgomery.

On3 Recruits shared the video of the play on its X account and it quickly generated a lot of buzz among fans.

Fans were quick to share their thoughts on the play and hyped up the five-star quarterback. Few fans speculated that the five-star recruit might start next season for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He signed with the Kalen DeBoer-led program on Dec. 4.

"Do you see a day one starter?" One fan said.
"He coming to Bama to take something!" Another fan commented.
"Because he's the best QB in this class. And we are lucky to have him. Very, very lucky," Another fan wrote.

Russell led the Team Icon to a blowout victory against the likes of Quentin Gibson and Alvin Henderson. Fans were thrilled to watch him dice up Team Unstoppable's defense and expressed their excitement in the comment section of the video.

"This kid is a special," one fan wrote.
"Mama’s always right. Your future-King," another fan said.
"I love this man," another fan commented.

Keelon Russell is ranked No. 2 in the country, only behind five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, as per On3. He pledged his allegiance to the Crimson Tide on June 4 last year.

Keelon Russell, a five-star quarterback from Duncanville High School, had a terrific senior year. He led the Panthers to a record of 13-1 but lost to the North Crowley Panthers in the playoffs.

However, Russell's performances did not go unnoticed as he won the Gatorade National Player of the Year award. In the 14 games that he played this year, the five-star quarterback racked up 4,177 yards and 55 touchdowns while throwing only four interceptions.

He finished with a quarterback rating of 145.4 and completed 69.4% of his pass attempts. Russell threw for 7,444 yards and 90 touchdowns while throwing just seven interceptions in his two seasons with the Panthers, as per MaxPreps.
