Fans are buzzing about the budding rivalry between Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer and AJ Dybantsa, with Duke fans saying their team has the upper hand.
Dybantsa’s rivalry with the Boozer brothers is set to continue in college after the No.1 overall prospect in the Class of 2025 committed to BYU. He raised the stakes by mentioning on ESPN's First Take that he could still face Duke, despite choosing BYU over Kansas, Kansas State, Alabama and North Carolina.
Dybantsa’s comments led Duke fans to respond, claiming their team is superior and that BYU stands no chance against the Blue Devils. The Utah Prep small forward will want to prove Duke fans wrong, and he'll have the support of four-star prospect Xavier Staton at BYU next season.
Reacting to an Instagram post on League Ready’s page, Duke fans believe the combination of Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer will be too much for Dybantsa.
“Duke has a lot more than just Cam and Cayden," a fan said.
“Let’s be real now Cam bout to continue that streak of beating Aj in college,” another said.
“I’m taking the #2 center in the nation & the point-forward #1 player in the nation," another user said.
“The twin. They played together their whole life and they’re mf twins can’t outdo that chemistry,” another fan added.
“Duke clears," another user said.
While the prospect of Dybantsa facing off against the Boozer brothers looks exciting on paper, it is very unlikely that BYU will take on Duke in the regular season.
Dybantsa vs Boozer Brothers High School Matchups
Dybantsa and the Boozer brothers have faced each other twice this year, with their head-to-head record tied at 1-1.
They first faced each other in September, when the Boozer’s Christopher Columbus High School beat Dybantsa’s Utah Prep 95-76 in a game where all three stars showed up.
Dybantsa dropped a game-high 43 points, while Cameron Boozer recorded 42 points and 15 rebounds along with his brother, Cayden, who dropped 30 points and nine assists.
However, Dybantsa gained his revenge a month later as he led Utah Prep to a 69-68 win at the Border League showcase in Las Vegas.
The 6-foot-9 small forward dropped 28 points on 50% shooting in addition to four rebounds and two assists. Meanwhile, Cameron Boozer, ranked the No.1 power forward in his class and third overall, recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds.
