Basketball fans have reacted to a resurfaced video of Auburn freshman Tahaad Pettiford dunking over Alabama sophomore Aden Holloway during a high school basketball battle. Both are playing college basketball, with Pettiford replacing Holloway at Auburn as a guard, after Holloway transferred to Alabama. But before becoming college rivals, they were also high school adversaries.
In the video shared on 247Sports' Instagram, Pettiford threw a monster dunk over Holloway at a Nike Elite Competition. Reacting to the play, many fans flooded the comment section.
“Dunked on the guy he replaced 😂😂😂,” a fan said.
“Where is this court," another fan was concerned about the location of the court.
“Wonder who he dunked on there," another fan posted a rhetorical question.
The comments kept coming, with some also praising Pettiford for the dunk.
“Dunked on Aden 😂", another fan echoed the same view.
“In the words of the great Ric Flair... "WOOOOOOO!!!" 💪🔥,” a fan was impressed by the dunk.
“Games over. Unplug the damn scoreboard and start up your engines to warm up the car,” another fan said.
Both Pettiford and Holloway have been good for their respective teams this season. Pettiford, who is 6-foot-1, has averaged 11.3 points, 2.8 assists and 1.6 rebounds for the Auburn Tigers (16-1) in 17 games. His performance has been key in the Tigers’ run to the top of the Southeastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, Holloway is averaging 11.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Alabama Crimson Tide, ranked third in the conference at 14-3.

Pettiford and Holloway also had decent high school careers. Pettiford, who attended Hudson Catholic, averaged 19.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a senior and was selected to play in the 2024 McDonald's All-American Game.
Meanwhile, 6-foot-1 Holloway averaged 21.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game as a sophomore and 18.5 points, 5.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game as a senior.
The combo guard graduated from Prolific Prep in Napa, California, leading the team to a No. 3 national ranking and a 36-1 overall record. Holloway also played in the 2023 McDonald's All-American Boys Game, scoring 15 points.
