The updated 247Sports class of 2025 rankings have created quite a stir among the basketball fans online. On Thursday, Slam High School’s Instagram account shared 247Sports’s rankings of the top 150 prospects in the Class of 2025. Four-star signee Eli Ellis's ranking has been cause for much debate.
Utah Prep’s AJ Dybantsa remains atop the list, followed by Prolific Prep’s Darryn Peterson and Columbus’s Cameron Boozer. Meanwhile, Eli Ellis, previously ranked at No. 90, has been placed at No. 66 in the updated rankings.
Reacting to the list, fans expressed their disappointment at the 6-foot guard still being ranked low despite his impressive performances in the Overtime Elite league.
“Eli still so lowwww😭😭,” a fan commented.
“@eliellis 66? Mannnn go drop 66 on these 🥷🏾😭,” a user commented.
“About time they rank Eli, but this is still too low, top 40 easily,” an Instagram user wrote.
“Eli let's goooooo,” one Eli Ellis supporter said.
Fans also voiced their appreciation for other players, while others wondered why some players had lost some ground in the rankings.
“Darryn Peterson on a historic run,” a fan said.
“What have the boozer twins done to go down?” another fan wrote.
Another name in the recruiting class who has been in the limelight is Kiyan Anthony, son of former NBA star Carmelo Anthony. Kiyan Anthony has been ranked at No. 35 in the latest rankings.
Eli Ellis leads YNG Dreamerz to a victory over City Reapers
The YNG Dreamerz beat the City Reapers 103-90 in their game on Friday. Eli Ellis led the Dreamerz with 26 points, nine assists and four rebounds. With the win, YNG Dreamerz extended their winning streak to five games and improved to 13-1 this season. The Dreamerz will next face the Diamond Doves on February 2.
The loss to Dreamerz dented the Reapers' record, taking them to 10-5 on the season. They have since won a game taking their record to 11-5. Meleek Thomas led the City Reapers in scoring and put up 22 points and eight rebounds in the loss against the YNG Dreamerz.
Ellis is currently averaging 32.2 points, 7.5 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals this season. The guard has signed with the South Carolina Gamecocks and will be looking to continue his good play as the Overtime Elite season progresses.
