Long Island Lutheran, also known as LuHi, will participate in this weekend's 3rd Annual Jordan Holiday Classic in New York, and Kiyan Anthony will finally return from injury after missing several games. Made Hoops released a video as the team prepares to take on red-hot Columbus and the Boozer Twins this Saturday.
Made Hoops sat down with several LuHi players, including Kiyan Anthony and he talked about the expectations of them playing in the prestigious basketball event.
"Expectation is trying to win go out there, you know. We returned four of our guards, all top rank guards. Chemistry is high level and we coming back looking to be better than last year," Kiyan Anthony said. (6:26-6:35)
He then talked about his chemistry with his teammates in the upcoming showdown against the Boozer Twins and crew.
"Those guys're my brothers, those my day one friends. We've been cool since long in high school, since middle school, just playing against each other, playing on the same team, and now just coming to the same high school trying to get it done on a higher level so I feel like all that plays a part until you know our chemistry and us being in the back together, us getting each other shots, playing, lifting each other," he said. He then talked about the all the expectations regarding him and his team, which is ranked the best high-school team in New York.
"Whether I perform or not, having a lot of eyes on me just because you know, my name so as I got older just starting to embrace, you know, everywhere I go, every park, every tournament, it's going to be a lot of eyes on me, so just starting to take it all in and try to use what I've been working on in the gym when it was just me and my dad." added Kiyan Anthony. Kiyan Anthony teammate Nigel James talks about 'representing Long Island' and team being overlooked
It was not just Kiyan Anthony who was interviewed in the video, but also teammate and four-star Marquette commit Nigel James, who felt that they were getting overlooked.
"To represent Long Island means a lot. A lot of New York players play with the underdog coz we overlooked people, think we're not as good or like that just people just overlook us in general so I feel like it just it it comes with a lot of heart," he said. (7:58-8:10)
The Long Island Lutheran vs. Columbus game is one of the most hyped games during the Jordan Holiday Classic and it will happen on Saturday at Baruch College in New York City.
