Divine Bourrage's potential future coach Kim Mulkey was in the stands on Tuesday for Davenport North High School's girls' basketball game. Bourrage, who committed to LSU in September, hugged Mulkey and sat beside the Tigers head coach for a photo-op before the game.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Bourrage posted a hype reel of her highlights during the game, including her interaction with Mulkey. She also added the caption:
"Failed history cuz I was focused on my future," she captioned the post.
The Davenport North Wildcats lost 52-42 to Central DeWitt. The loss ended Davenport's 10-game home winning streak, which dates back to last season, as they fell to 2-2 on the season.
Nevertheless, it was certainly a memorable day for the No. 1 shooting guard from the 2025 class (per 247Sports), who got to spend some time with Mulkey.
Kim Mulkey shares opinion on Divine Bourrage
Kim Mulkey and her staff had some free time this week due to college finals. So, they hopped onto a plane and landed in Davenport to watch Divine play.
Being the No.7 overall in the Class of 2025, as per 247Sports, Bourrage had over 30 offers from top universities across the nation. But the 5-foot-9 guard chose LSU over Illinois, Missouri and Florida among others.
In an interview with WQAD News 8 on Tuesday, Mulkey shared her thoughts on her star commit.
"The position she plays was the first thing, we need a perimeter player," Mulkey said (1:02)
"She can handle the point guard position, she can play the off-guard. I'm just gonna enjoy that she's going to be an LSU Tiger." She added.
The Davenport native charted 19.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists and three steals per game last season. She led his side to the final eight of the Iowa Class 5A State Tournament. Davenport North High School also won the Mississippi Athletic Conference title.
Meanwhile, Mulkey's Tigers are unbeaten this season at 11-0. Divine Bourrage's addition to the squad can help them keep a similar record in the upcoming seasons as well.
