Five-star shooting guard Jerzy Robinson delivered another standout performance on Tuesday, helping Sierra Canyon to an 85-47 victory over Marlborough High School. The junior put up 30 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Trailblazers start their Mission League season with a commanding victory.
The Trailblazers (16-1), located in Chatsworth, California, dominated Marlborough, outscoring them in every quarter, to win their 11th consecutive game.
Apart from Robinson, 6-foot power forward Payton Montgomery delivered a season-high 20 points and five rebounds. Junior center Emilia Krstevski added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Five-star junior Jerzy Robinson earns USA Basketball Athlete of the Year Award nomination
After an outstanding performance at the 2024 FIBA Under-17 Women's Basketball World Cup, Jerzy Robinson has earned a nomination for the USA Basketball Athlete of the Year Award.
Robinson was instrumental in leading Team USA to a gold medal, averaging an impressive 20.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game to win the tournament's MVP honors.
Alongside Jerzy Robinson, South Carolina forward Joyce Edwards, who guided Team USA to gold and claimed MVP honors at the 2024 FIBA Under-18 Women's AmeriCup, is also in the running for the award. WNBA superstars Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi and A'ja Wilson, who all starred at the 2024 Paris Olympics, have also been nominated.
The award also extends to other categories, including the 5-on-5 Male Athlete of the Year, the 3x3 Coach of the Year, and the 5-on-5 Junior Coach of the Year award. Voting for the award took place from Dec. 21 to Jan. 5, and the winners are expected to be announced soon.
