Five-star plus cornerback Na’eem Offord, from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, is one of the highest-rated prospects in Ohio State's 2025 class besides quarterback Tavien St. Clair and cornerback Devin Sanchez. But the Buckeyes may have a reason to be concerned about keeping him locked in their program.
Despite his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes, Offord has been actively exploring other programs and Oregon has been a big suitor. According to Chad Simmons of On3, the prospect is planning to visit Eugene for the Ducks' game against Ohio State.
This visit will not be his first to Oregon, as Offord has already made several trips to the West Coast, including an unofficial visit in May and an official visit in June.
Offord has been vocal about his admiration for the Oregon program.
"Oregon is a pretty good school. Really good coaches," Offord told ScoopDuck’s Max Torres. "It was really a relationship with them and wanting to get out to see it."
Head coach Dan Lanning, wide receivers coach Junior Adams and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi are working to secure blue-chip prospects. The program's success in producing NFL talent, with eight players drafted this year alone and its innovative marketing strategies have made a strong impression on Offord.
“Coach Lanning, (Rashad) Wadood, all of them," Offord said. "I’m around all of them whenever I’m around. They doing everything they can to get me.”
Na’eem Offord reaffirmed his commitment to Ohio State
Last month, rumors began circulating after an Ohio State fan site suggested that Na'eem Offord might be considering other schools. The article did not directly claim that he was planning to flip his commitment, but it fueled discussions about the possibility.
In response, Offord took to X to clear the air, posting,
"Y’all get on the internet and say anything 🤦🏽♂️," Offord wrote.
In an interview with Max Torres of ScoopDuck, Offord ensured that he would not back off his pledge.
“I wasn’t really tripping when I saw the chatter,” Offord said. “I laughed at it, I thought it was funny. I’m still locked in."
Offord is the No. 2 cornerback in the nation, the No. 1 player in Alabama and the No. 6 overall player in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports. On3 places him as the nation's No. 3 cornerback, the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 9 overall prospect in the class.
Ohio State has 24 players committed to the 2025 class, ranking No. 1 in the nation and No. 1 among the Big 10 schools. The class also earned commitments from linebacker Riley Pettijohn, safety Faheem Delane, offensive tackle Carter Lowe and wide receiver Quincy Porter.
