Choctaw County High School five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham is one of the hottest prospects in the 2025 recruiting class and has yet to announce his pledge. But the blue-chip recruit is seemingly nearing that coveted decision, as he has now released his top six teams for commitment.
With offers from more than two dozen programs, Cunningham listed Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss on his priority list.
“These six schools have made me feel at home and I feel comfortable when I am there,” Cunningham said (via On3). “All six schools have things I like, like the coaches, the environment and the people. I like the offenses they run too."
The wide receiver has already taken official visits to Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, and Alabama this summer while also enjoying several visits to Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
“Then all six schools are a little different. Each has something different that I like too. I have visited all six multiple times, I love the energy at each school and I know I can get along with the coaches and fit into each offense. That is why I am focused on Alabama, Auburn, State, Ole Miss, Florida and Tennessee," Caleb Cunningham said.
On January 14, Cunningham boldly declared Auburn as the leader in his recruitment. His affinity for the Tigers seemed strong, but his views on Mississippi State on January 14 also showed promise, as he revealed he was "really close to committing" to the program.
Cunningham’s status as the No. 1 player in Mississippi gives both Ole Miss and Mississippi State a competitive edge in securing his commitment.
Auburn again held the top spot after a visit on June 2. Following a visit to Florida the subsequent weekend, Cunningham named both Auburn and Florida as his co-leaders. But his recent trip to Tuscaloosa on June 23 has changed the whole scenario once again.
After his visit to Alabama, Cunningham told Touchdown Alabama that the Crimson Tide had surged to No. 1 in his rankings. According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Alabama now stands as the favorite to land Cunningham, with a 52.2% chance of securing his commitment.
When is Caleb Cunningham going to announce his commitment?
Caleb Cunningham was earlier expected to announce his commitment decision around signing day in December, but he now plans to commit in July, as he shared with On3:
“I am thinking about committing sometime in July now. It is going to happen sooner than I thought it would. I have been going through the process for a while and I have taken a lot of visits, so I feel better about making a decision a little earlier.”
Caleb Cunningham, listed as the No. 1 player in Mississippi for the class of 2025, is also the No. 2 wide receiver and the No. 15 overall player in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. 247 Sports similarly ranks him as the No. 1 player in Mississippi and the No. 22 overall player in the nation.
Caleb Cunningham set school records with 48 catches for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior season in 2023. He is also an incredible basketball player, averaging 18 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this past season.
