Wide receiver Zion Legree out of Pensacola, Florida, is gradually getting recognition in the 2026 class. He has received offers from Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Auburn, Washington, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and UCF, among others.
Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs entered the race on Saturday by extending an offer to him for the 2026 recruiting class. He shared the news on X, writing:
"University of Georgia offered #godawgs🐶 @CoachColey @CoachOdom_ @KirbySmartUGA @TheOfficialPFFB @CoachTC22 @C3Elite7v7 @ReuseRecruiting @Dawgs247 @JedMay_ @SWiltfong_ @ChadSimmons_ @JeremyO_Johnson @FSFJasonDC @RustyMansell_
@AnthonyDasher1 @adamgorney @JohnGarcia_Jr"
Amid the fast-paced recruiting process, Legree is enjoying the attention and opportunities that come with it. In an interview with Irish Breakdown on July 11, he shared his thoughts on his recruitment journey.
"Recruiting has been going good but pretty fast. I am still waiting on a couple more coaches to reach out to me but overall it's been great. I have been enjoying the process," he said.
Legree is a versatile player who can line up at quarterback, receiver, safety, cornerback and linebacker. He recorded 31 receptions for 557 yards and five touchdowns last season.
"I want to play for and be a part of a great team. I want somewhere that I can call home and coach shows love and I feel like a priority,” Legree added.
Legree's athleticism is also highlighted by his reported 4.3-second 40-yard dash at a camp in Auburn. Dwayne Carter, owner of the C3 Elite 7-on-7 program, praises the emerging player's physical abilities by calling him a "freak."
Legree is ranked as the No. 220 prospect in the nation, the No. 36 athlete in the 2026 class and the No. 42 recruit in Florida, according to Rivals. On3 places him as the No. 30 athlete in the 2026 class and the No. 73 recruit in Florida. He is yet to be ranked by 247 Sports and ESPN.
Can Notre Dame earn the commitment of Zion Legree?
Being a Florida native, Zion Legree is projected to give his pledge to the Florida Gators. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives the Gators a 51.5% chance of securing his commitment. But Notre Dame remains a strong contender due to Legree's consistent praise for the program.
Notre Dame's interest in Legree became official on St. Patrick's Day, shortly after he participated in a 7-on-7 tournament. The timing of the offer seemed aligned with the celebratory spirit of the day.
“It means a lot,” Legree told Irish Breakdown. “It is a major offer and I appreciate Coach (Dre) Brown and Coach (Mike) Brown believing in me and offering me a scholarship.”
The Fighting Irish's track record in recruiting has been impressive, particularly with the 2025 class and they have already made waves with their commitments from top prospects Noah Grubbs and Dylan Faison for the 2026 class. This success could be an influential factor in Legree's decision-making process.
Let's see if Marcus Freeman and his coaching staff can charm Zion Legree enough to make him a member of the class.
