Connor Stalions has been a controversial figure in the football world since his involvement in the infamous sign-stealing scandal at Michigan last year. The former Michigan staffer resigned following the reveal of the scandal and has since taken charge of Mumford High School in Detroit.

Stalions initially volunteered to become the defensive coordinator job but was given the interim head coaching gig after head coach William McMichael had suffered a stroke.

The former Michigan coach took charge of the Mustangs' game against Western International on Wednesday and led them to their first win of the season. Mumford won 16-8 to open their account after five consecutive defeats.

"It feels great for the guys. They hadn’t won many games the last few years, and we’ve held them to a very high standard; that’s a big shock for them, a culture shock," the interim head coach said after the game.
"Seeing them finally get a win, now they have a lot to look forward to when they practice, and hopefully it’s just a snowball effect here."

The Mumford Mustangs had only one win in the last two years before their triumph against the Cowboys. Connor Stalions is also the main subject of the Netflix's documentary 'Sign Stealer,' which is a part of the platform's 'Untold' series.

Connor Stalions gives inspirational speech to Mumford players after win

Connor Stalions took charge of the Mumford Mustangs against the Western International Cowboys. Mumford was 0-5 going into the game.

After the win over the Cowboys, Stalions gave an inspirational speech, showcasing his ability to rally his players and inspire them to perform despite a poor start to the season.

"Think about what happened today," Connor Stalions told his players after the game. "Everything you did, attention to detail. We controlled tempo, we communicated very well on defense, we moved with a fricking purpose 24/7 today. When you guys stepped on that field, you fricking move with a purpose. So now you are no longer a losing team. You have won.
"That means you get tomorrow off and then on Monday is the best practice of your lives, because you’re going to practice like winners, and you’re going to practice with attention to detail and an effort, like you’ve never practiced before."

The Mustangs take on the Southeastern Jungaleers in their next game on Friday. The Jungaleers are 2-4 this season.
