One of the best talents in the Class of 2026, Alijah Arenas and the 3x NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas have been one of the best father-son basketball duo. Alijah is already a five-star recruit and ranks top in his position and No. 3 in the nation.
The duo appeared in a YouTube video titled "The Arenas Legacy: Alijah Arenas Rise to The Top With Gilbert Arenas' Mindset!" and talked about plenty of topics, like the lessons the Chatsworth Senior player learned from Kobe Bryant, the importance of work ethic, and more.
When the interviewer asked the duo about their favorite hobbies together, Alijah Arenas talked about the "hardest game" they played, and it was not on the basketball court.
"We play this game in the car it's called ABC's so you find a word, we'll be driving somewhere. He told me this game about like ABC so it's like you find a letter A like the Apple Store you just see it on the way and you say and you say it and then you go from A all the way to Z," Alijah Arenas said (13:41 - 14:29).
"That's probably the probably the hardest game whoever can get there faster so you have to uh say all the words like but we can't say the same word, obviously Q's X's become very very hard."
How many colleges have made an offer to Alijah Arenas
Even though Arenas belongs to the Class of 2026, the Chatsworth, California native has racked up offers from different colleges. The list includes 17 offers including the Kansas Jayhawks, New Mexico, Texas Longhorns, Nevada, Fresno State, UCLA, Xavier, Washington State, Ole Miss, Washington Huskies, Arizona, California, Nebraska, Virginia, Alabama, and West Virginia.
According to the On3 prediction machine, the UCLA Bruins lead the race to recruit Alijah Arenas with a 7.9% prediction, followed by Fresno State (6.9%), California (5.9%), and Nevada with a 5% chance.
Last season, the 6'6" shooting guard averaged 33 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game, playing 35 matches for Chatsworth. His father claims that Arenas has a mixture of Devin Booker's and Kyrie Irving's abilities:
"When people ask me what type of game he has, I mean it's a mixture of Kyrie Irving's dribbling, I'm putting in a little bit of Devin Booker's pull-up game. I'm pulling from the great, adding it and giving it to him so it's this combo mix-up of everything."
The five-star prospect is steadily rising the ranks. Which college do you think we will see Arenas play for?
