The Columbia High School from Alabama has been winless since 2015. The program suffered 91 straight losses and has one of, if not the worst, high school football record in the country.
The Eagles have decided to hire former NFL wide receiver, Sammie Coates, as their new head coach. He will be tasked with improving the team and getting them back to winning ways.
Despite playing in the NFL, Coates is mainly remembered for his time in college with the Auburn Tigers. He was an integral part of the Auburn Tigers team that won the SEC Championship in 2013. Coates was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Coates' football journey was followed by a few coaching stints at the high school and college levels. Prior to being appointed as the Eagles' head coach, Coates was a member of the Jensen Beach High School in Florida and was on the staff of Ohio Northern University as well as the University of Virginia.
Coates' had a good run with the Auburn Tigers, catching 82 passes for 1,757 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns in three seasons. During his time in the NFL, Coates caught 29 passes for 528 yards and scored a couple of touchdowns.
